THE GLHA ADVANTAGE
INSURANCE
Every player is fully and adequately insured through Hockey Canada.
All volunteers who work to provide the program for our players are also fully and adequately insured through Hockey Canada.
CERTIFICATION
GLHA has a Technical Director who organizes clinics for coaches, trainers, players and all of the volunteers in the 5 associations - LMHA, North London, Oakridge, South/Southeast London, West London.
- Every volunteer must attend an "abuse and harassment" clinic to obtain their Prevention
Services certification.
- Every team has a certified trainer on the bench.
- Every Forest City team and every house league team in PeeWee and older divisions, has a certified coach on the bench. All other house league coaches are offered incentives to get their certification, and many associations mandate a certified coach on the bench for all of their teams.
- All volunteers with GLHA are required to obtain Police Checks.
- All players at the beginning level of body-checking will participate is the GLHA city-wide body checking clinic (in-class and on-ice sessions), supplemented by regular instruction throughout the hockey season.
COMPLETE HOCKEY PROGRAM
- Each association offers an introductory program for the beginning player.
- For house league players, each association offers 20 or more games in the regular season, plus playoffs, and city or division championships.
- Each association ices "select" teams to compete against the other GLHA member teams. These teams play a full season of league games and playoffs in the Forest City Hockey League.
- Our Forest City Tier 1 teams are rated A/AA (In Tournaments) by both the Alliance and OMHA and have been more then competitive against local A/AA competition.
- All Forest City games are non-curfew
- The 5 GLHA associations abide by the Boundary Agreement, only registering players within their own areas.
- GLHA has an Operations Committee in place to assess, support, and improve all facets of the programs that are offered.
